summary (EN) / Samenvatting (NL)
Stella goes into the forest by herself, despite the fence in front of the entrance. When she is stung by a bee, she becomes as small as the flowers she has picked. A new world opens up where Stella can talk to the plants and animals in the forest. The tree Birky introduces her to the forest. Stella overcomes her fear of spiders, learns about dreams from a butterfly and about beauty from a flower. Then she hears that the forest will be cut down. She is angry and sad. She talks to the ants who are on their way to defend the forest and decides to do something herself, because Stella loves the forest and wants to keep it. You too?

Deforestation - why we need to love the forest (more)
Forests are rapidly disappearing... A few pictures show this below.
To be precise: we lose 18.7 million hectares of forest per year, which is equivalent to 17 football fields per minute (see World Wildlife Fund; worldwildlife.org). About 1/3 of the earth was covered by forest and 80% of the animals and plants live in the forest (see National Geographic). People also depend on forests: it offers drinking water and shelter, for example, but also oxygen. Moreover, they absorb carbon and thus play a crucial role in reducing climate change. Deforestation causes a rise in temperature, extreme weather conditions, a change in water levels and disruption of water cycles (in rivers, air and earth) and land erosion. Forest is harvested for paper, palm oil - which is in different products, even cookies - soy, mining, etc. By what you buy, you can already make a difference.
But what is actually more important is to prevent it. And that's why Stella says: Love the forest. If we can truly love the forests, love nature and perceive our connectedness, then human beings will no longer treat nature as a material resource. Hopefully this book can be a spark of inspiration to start acting from a place of love and connection.
